Sony is the company that is 'in trouble' right now, not IOM. Sony has stated they are going through a product line evaluation. Perhaps, just perhaps, they have decided that they do not want to spend the money to re-engineer the HiFud. Perhaps they are visiting Roy UT to try to sell the design, design team, manufacturing facility, etc. associated with the HiFud to the 'standard bearer' in removable storage........ just a wild thought. I mean IOM is buying every other 'removable storage' company at bargain basement prices.....

Ben A.

PS I have an IOM thread ignore list, so if certain fools post their usual crap, don't expect any replies.....

>>The Mavica series of digital cameras are a hot item, but they rely on old floppy technology for storage... <<

Which is exactly WHY they are so popular. The ability to take out the floppy disk and put it into virtually ANY computer at any time is the main draw. Just ask any Mavica owner why they bought it. Or, go to <rec.photo.digital> and ask a Mavica owner over there.

The Floppy is the direct "Value Added" to Sony's Mavica line. Take away the standard 1.44 floppy, and you take away the reason for buying a Mavica.
