High Tech News: Sun Acquires Technology of Precise Connectivity of Israel for $6M

By Ella Jacoby Wednesday, Apr 14, 1999 Sun-Thu at 18:00 (GMT+2)

Sun Microsystems has acquired technology from Israeli company Precise Connectivity. The purchase amount was not given by the company, but estimates say it is $6 million.

This is the first acquisition of Israeli technology by Sun International.

Precise Connectivity is part of the Precise group of Rosh Ha'ayin, which was founded in 1987 and consists of five companies. The company whose technology has been purchased was set up eighteen months ago, engaging in connectivity between application servers and mainframe.

As part of the acquisition, fifteen Precise employees will be transferred to Sun's development center in Israel. The Precise group is owned by a group of South American and British investors.

Sun vice president Zahi Rinat, owner of NetDynamics which was sold to Sun a year ago, said this was not the last Israeli technology acquisition by Sun International. The technology acquired is regarded as strategic for Sun.
