Michael,

If the stock goes down, Ed is taking less risk than one who is going long w/o using options, assuming he backs up his sales by cash. OTOH, he is accepting less return if the stock goes up. His is a lower-risk-lower-reward strategy.

Well...your profile says you are 28, relatively bearish, and keeping 60% in cash...that speaks to your perspective.

Nothing is without risk, and that's not really what you meant when you posted him back, or it could have been said in one self-evident sentence.

His game is not more risky if he correctly perceives the stock has good fundamentals, and as he often points out, you believe in the American economy...if you don't, why invest at all?

'Nuff said, anyway...
