Accfig, You may had a problem due to the number of shares. I think upto 1000 maximum (or might be 500--not sure), it is automatic execution and any more than that , it is manual and you are put in some "line" or queue. If you had 2 separate orders, you probably would have been filled right away.

I was told once that for example, Microsoft has a 500 or 1000 (don't remember) share limit for autoexecution---beyond that you are in the some queue.
When I want to get out of a stock or buy in quickly, I usually enter many orders with a maximum of 500 or 1000 in each order (depending upon the stock). On a busy day like today, that is the only way to be sure of getting a fast fill.

You might want to check what the automatic execution limit is for your stocks from your broker. I also learned this the hard way a few months ago. Could not believe i was not getting filled at my price. The trader made a few calls to get me the limits.

Request a "Trade Inquiry". If it should have filled, they will make it right. This usually takes 3-4 days to find out.

On the other hand, if Datek makes a market in Intel (does not act as your agent), you may be screwed.

Best Trading,
X
