what was the expectation for JDS revenue and earnings? Certainly they beat it.

By the way, I show Uniphase releasing earnings on April 26th.

gdichaz, Uncle Frank: Greetings. Have owned UNPH and JDS since last summer. JDS reported this evening, C$0.33 (fully diluted) vs. C$0.27 consensus. Analysts have been behind the curve on JDS for the last four quarters, and the numbers this evening: top line, continued ramping of R&D, SG&A under control despite exploding revenues, and higher non-cash charges with EPS at>100% YoY tell a powerful story.

I don't think that the merger will be a done deal by end of June. When I last spoke with IR, last week, the companies had just filed their HSR, preliminary proxy material not yet filed with the SEC, meeting dates not yet set, as far as I know.

If you believe in the optoelectronics segment, this is a good play: JDS (passive components/gratings/DWDM) + UNPH (active components/pump lasers and chips for fiberoptic pipe) = modules to save the system aggregators time and $. Regards. Liacos_samui (and long Q)
