<all SI members email addresses should be made available to other
members. That is another way to stop those who seek to damage companies, their officers and their consultants.>

That would definitely be a step in the right direction.

Heck, I'd even go for full names, and addresses, but doubt that will ever happen.

The "nom de plume" has a right and a tradition of authors for centuries. The Supreme Court has vigorously defended this right in the past. Your suggestion, while noble in its intent, unfortunately is very unrealistic.

Pending court cases will begin to define the anonymous author's liability in the future. "Cybersmear" will hopefully become a thing of the past.

Right. Let's talk about that, shall we?

First of all, if you are clean, then you have nothing to worry about and you don't need to complain. That's a fact, Jack.

My personal opinion on a publicly traded company's management posting on SI is that it is stupid. It's stupid because it proves nothing and leaves the person open to whatever attack somebody wants to throw at them. It's a no win situation, and I would never do it. You don't see John Chambers posting on SI, you don't even see the founders of SI posting on SI except rarely.

If a company wants to get all touchy feely with the investing public, that's dandy, but just leave it to IR and the PR firm and go about the business of making money. If you can't afford an IR person, then you should just get to work and forget about the touchy feely with the general public.

Now about the phony names. I use my real name, so I don't count. But asking someone to use their real name if they don't want to solves nothing.

Nothing.

It won't happen. There is no reason for it.

If you want to bitch about something, try searching for the word "porn" on any search engine and spend the rest of the day clicking on the links. Then imagine you are 11 years old.

Now try the word "supremacy".

Now pick the nastiest word you ever did hear.

You get my drift?

That's real scary; that's not some clown calling you funny names on SI.

Get real and bitch about a real problem, Action Jackson.

This Internet deal is going to completely change the course of history on this planet. It already started.

Jump on and help make it better, or get the hell out of the way.

Fast train comin' through, dude.

>> Dropping the anonymous titles will stop the bashing....

Really? I don't think so.

An alias lets me express personal ideas in this forum. I don't *want* everyone at work to know I invest in the stock market, OK? I don't believe in this small-town mentality where everyone has to know everyone's business.

Personally, I am able to find discussions where intelligence is key and bashing doesn't happen, thank you very much. Just because some Goober who probably has an AOL account is too stupid to do that.... Please ignore his suggestion for a "new rule on the internet, everyone, that now everyone has to give their real names!"

Dumb idea.
