Mad Duck: The rationale behind the "no even dollar limit" is
illustrated above in the posts ($ 99.00). As a NYSE broker
for over 16 years - I can tell you that most of my "limit"
(as opposed to "market") order clients, would say something
like, "if XYZ ever gets up to $25.00 - sell it"...very few
would ever say, "sell when it reaches 24 15/16"...so the "Book"
gets clogged with orders at even prices. A real sinking feeling
is when you question an order (lack of execution) and find out -
"there was stock ahead". In very active stocks - this may not
be a problem, but on "thin ones" - look out.
