Robert ---Why do you continue to call the (voted in)leader of a country with a derogatory name??? Does this make you feel empowered?

I notice that all of the gung ho war mongers on this thread are constantly insulting dissident posters and resorting to name calling---Hmmmm ,, Do you lack convincing evidence of your beliefs?

Oh ,, an oops today-- bombed a thousand civilians to death---Oh well, being humanitarian has it's costs I guess

Why are you so eager to believe the Government Press of Slob Milosevic, rather then
the free press in the rest of the world?

Frankly, I don't much believe either one of them. But as to our highly believable free press:

Well, let's see. There was an F-117 that the Serbs claimed they shot down and denied. But, gosh, then suddenly there were pictures of it. There were those Albanians moderates who were murdered by the Serbs, but gosh, after we had wrung our hands over their terrible deaths then suddenly they magically showed up alive. Their houses were burned by the Serbs, but magically they got restored to perfect condition in only two days. There were three American soldiers who were abducted from Macedonia, only oops, later we had to admit that it appeared they had invaded Yugoslavian territory after all. There was that train that at first was a purely military target, but oops, now we admit there were civilians on it.

Why are YOU so anxious to believe even more of the garbage that Rubin's wife pumps into you without raising any suspicions that maybe, as I have said before,

TRUTH IS THE FIRST CASUALTY OF WAR, AND A "FREE PRESS" DOESN'T CHANGE THAT ONE BIT.

[BTW, if you really believe that our mainstream press is free, you should sit down over some drinks with a few candid members of the Washington press corps. When told to, you write what the government wants or suddenly find your sources cut off, your seat on the press plane missing, etc., etc. I worked in Washington -- I know how it works.]

I take what BOTH side say with a grain of salt. But I stand by what I said--NATO will find some way to blame Milosovic for these latest civilian deaths. Mark my words.

As to why cast NATO as the villain:

Because NATO IS the villain. Milosovic was ready to agree to a peace deal if it would involve non-NATO forces. Perfectly sensible after it turned out that our government had been lying along about the neutrality of the US members of the inspection team in Iraq and we had to admit that they had been illegally spying. With a record like that, proved lying by our government, why should Milosovic let US troops on his soil any more than Britain would allow Russian troops in Northern Ireland to enforce the peace there?

Fact is, Clinton wanted a legacy, he wanted to appear tough and get the China spying scandal and other scandals off the front page. And Albright was running out of time to, as she said to Colin Powell, get a chance to actually use some of those toys they had been buying. Clinton and Albright manufactured this war for their own personal reasons. A lot of people are dying, and a lot of property has been destroyed, because of their childishness. No matter what you claim, the fact is that Milosovic never threatened the peace of any NATO country. No matter what you say, the fact is that the KLA is a terrorist organization in armed rebellion against the government of their country. No matter what you say, the fact is that the situation in Kosovo, while certainly far from perfect, was far more benign than the situation in many other places in the world where Clinton and Albright have ignored human tragedies on scales that make Kosovo at the time the bombing started look virtually benign.

You, sir, are simply a bloodthirsty and vicious man who delights in seeing things blown up and people killed. Well, you are getting your wish. The saddest--and sickest--thing about it all is that you are actually proud of what out country is doing.

When you appear on judgment day, may God have mercy on your soul.
