Yields have never been a problem as far as I can tell. The problem has been binsplit. People have been misusing the term "yields". The 5M number for Q2 probably reflects the larger die size for the K6-3 and the K7, although I don't believe claims of K7 production at this time. With the K6-3 yields could still remain good yet capacity goes down with the larger die.

I hope AMD is learning from their previous screw-ups - of raising high expectations and not meeting them. The 5M number is a number I think they can meet (I'm basing my guess on info about March's output, increased K6-3 die size, and increased FAB 25 utilization). This provides a little bit of room for an upside surprise in # made.
