If NATO is responsible for the attack then we'll see a reflection in the polls as some intelligent people will begin to question whether bombing is helping NATO achieve their goals.

NATO isn't a part of the free press. The free press will investigate every story. If NATO is lying, the free press will find out what the truth is. The free press consists of the news services from many counties, not just the US. That is why Americans have so much confidence in the news that we receive. The free press will report a story that it has heard. A responsible press will verify the story. In this case, the story was reported as a Serbian issued story. You would probably be better off if you didn't follow the free press and just read the censored Serbian news. That way you could feel good without having access to the truth.
