Kash Re <<Unfortunately Jerry came across as berating a few of the analysts - Dan Niles in particular.>>

Yes, very true.

As accomplished and experienced as Sanders is (or thinks he is) it does not excuse his rude and Condescending attitude. I did not like it. And it sure does not help the rating on AMD. I just wrote an email to AMD IR, to let them know how I felt about this. It will not do anything but it makes me feel better, :)

re: "Unfortunately Jerry came across as berating a few of the analysts - Dan Niles in particular."

I honestly think the term that should apply is deserved condescension. Niles question was born of a lack of understanding of how buying decisions on the part of the boxmakers are consummated. Further, Jerry's comment results in a lowering of expectations for one component of AMD's backlog, not generally the the course Jerry takes. I did not detect any other berating of other analysts; there was, however, an upbeat sense of humor, normal for Jerry . Also his pomposity appeared to be far more subdued than what I have detected in the past. One problem that I have detected in the past has been Jerry's capacity to gratuitously "give away" proprietary insights into their progress, direction, means, and, hence likelihood of success; to a group that may not observe the the restrictions that should be observed when transmitting such individuals who may transmit it to third party others only to have it end up in the hand of iNTEL where good use of it can be ultimately be to the substantial disadvantage of AMD R&D efforts. I am virtually certain this has, in the past been a source of frustration and consternation within AMD. There was an obvious diminishing of Jerry's flamboyancy in this area.

Even though Atiq Raza was acknowledged to be present, as far as I could tell, he did not participate actively. Perhaps he was kicking Jerry under the table to keep him under control and away from dangerous topics; a very, very constructive role. One can hope. Further, Atiq Raza's future formal elevation to a higher position, that he has been groomed for during the past year, was formally acknowledged as on the agenda for a future board meeting (possibly to coincide with the annual meeting). This would obviously diminish, though obviously not eliminate, Jerry's role in the future.
