JK, I think the money managers just want to be in other sectors. They know that we are in a seasonally slow period for PCs. For long term investors, now is the time for the buying opportunities in the whole sector. I am looking at a lot of stocks but am trying to bottom fish.
Microsoft at 80 would be an amazing price---we know the lawsuit is going to be resolved one way or another and get out of the picture soon. Office2k, Windows2k. I think Comdex is April 19 (not sure). Windows2k beta ships April 27-30.
I am going to stick to key stocks, like MSFT, Dell, Gateway and even Intel due to its market dominance and valuation. Just waiting for the right entry points. Remember that IRA money will also dry up soon and other buying opportunities may arise in the future. I don't think options would be a good idea past next week---unless they are leaps.
I am staying with in the money May 80 calls, which I picked up today. I don't have anymore Aprils. I took a loss on Intel today thanks to that Compaq preannounement. If CPQ had not spoiled the party, I would have been out of Intel before earnings with huge gains. Oh well--you win some and you lose some (as long you win more times).

"some pros think the tech sector is over valued"

if these guys were so good they wouldn't be fighting downtown manhattan traffic, working late hours and engaging in political infighting. the good one have invested successfully and don't need to work. i mean anyone can downgrade compaq or peoplesoft after the fact. by the way these "pros" loved informix at 35 and hated it at 3.5.
