Has anyone on this board ever used an ADSL connection?

I've had an ADSL line since October through USWest (after waiting from July to October to get it hooked up). It's a 256 K bi-di line.

I'm generally pleased with it even though I don't get the full speed on the line -- apparently because of the wiring in my old apartment building. It's fast enough, however, that I'd find it very difficult to go back to a 56K modem. As much as the speed, what I appreciate is the "always-on" feature of the service, and being able to use the voice line (despite a slight hum) at the same time.

When @home service (cable modems) is available in my neighborhood, I'll consider switching for the extra speed, but since that speed isn't guaranteed, I'll switch only after hearing more about the quality of service from the cable guys.

USWest, by the way, uses Cisco data equipment in the CO and Cisco routers in the home. I'm not sure how much of Aware's technology is used, but according to the Aware web site (a great resource, by the way), Cisco does use chips from Analog Devices, an Aware licensee, in some of their ADSL products.
