Hi Amy Re "Full-motion doesn't quite adequately run on a standalone PC yet"

True - so it's going to be a long time before it does so on the net.

What is going to drive the need for full-motion video? I'm sure
it'll come at some point but I find that the net is slow enough
already with just text and static graphics.

The net is going to have get a lot faster first IMHO. By that time, everyday CPUs on the receiving end will be fast enough by a natural Moore's law progression. Multicasting routers etc and other hardware
will probably be used (in addition to general purpose CPUs) on the
sending end.

I'm just an ordinary observer in these matters so I have no idea if my opinions are worth what you are paying for them <g>

Best Regards
