Someone on the Q thread said qcom is trading up over 13 in the after market. Let's hope for a good day tomorrow.

Good morning Uncle Frank: Sorry, I had to retire to my workout machine before blearily making my way to bed. Here in the office, now. I had remarked on an earlier post to Morgan that, it seemed to me, JDS.TO (as accessed on the Yahoo Fin'l Info) seemed to trade at a slight discount to its imputed post merger price relationship to UNPH: I believe that the ratio is along the lines of 0.50588 shares of JDS for each UNPH share, so that JDS should trade at slightly higher than 50% of UNPH's price, adjusted for currency effects. (One of the interesting questions for JDS is how much their earnings were helped by US$ to C$ conversion during the quarter, given that 82% of sales are from the 'States.) Given that JDS had, and still has, near-term higher earnings visibility than UNPH, JDS is a play. Last night's release may eliminate the perceived discount between the two. Perhaps that was due to liquidity/Toronto exchange issues. In the merger, JDS will issue a C$ denominated security to Canadian holders to preserve eligibility for Canadian IRAs. These shares are convertible one-for-one for JDS-UNPH shares at any time.

Btw, I posted last night to Gdichaz that I doubted that the merger would be effective by the end of June, but two articles, and also the text of the earnings release, indicate that it will be done by then. If so, I stand corrected. Regards. Liacos_samui.
