you are correct.....about changing frying pans, no question. I would say DLJ direct however, has the best software....absolutely great on a comparative basis, extremely fast server response time..... negatives are....if you need to talk to someone.....the wait time is far too long...even on the VIP line. But..... I've managed even block trades from the software without any problems...so, so far I'm impressed...

BTW: you can forget fidelity and NDB as well..... would be worse than discover.

ANYTHING is superior to Discover. What good is a broker when you can't trade online and can't get a broker on the phone? If all you do is check quotes, then you don't need a broker. A friend of mine has Fidelity. Like me, he's a daytrader and over the past 8 mos. he's experienced only 2 times he couldn't get a trade executed online. Compare that to Discover's daily outage.

'Nuff said.

Good point. Discover definitely is having growing pains, I have opened a small account at SureTrade. It seemed ok the first week, but its system is really not that good. Updating account info is bad so can't get trades done. Really don't know where you stand. Discover is better than SureTrade. However, I'm pissed off at Discover, because they can't get me a corrected 1099. I really don't need at tax audit, because Discover sends the IRS erroneous information.
