It is important to emphasize AAPL's growing success story in Asia.
As said before, Asia is in a strong recovery path and AAPL is ao great way to play it. This is whan Fred Anderson said last night:
- 50% of revenues were from overseas
- Year to year unit growth was 52% in Japan and 41% in rest of Asia
- AAPL's channel inventory in Japan was its lowest in the world. IMac sales were "incredibly strong"
- Increasing Internet usage in Asia is driving APPL' s sales: 89% of new IMac buyers in Japan were new Internet users vs 82% in the previous quarter
- Japan pricing is "firm"
- Market share of desktops increased to 18.4% in Japan vs 7.45 yr ago
I would also add from personal experience that the Japanese consumer is perhaps one of the most demanding in terms of quality and design.
Apple's computers could not fit more that requirement. Japan is coming from its worst economic crisis since Second World War. This
is something to consider.
