As for NTT, they have for over 2 years wanted WCDMA (and at 4.096Mcps, they were the ones that originally proposed that rate) and it will be interesting to see there selection of 3G suppliers...I believe an announcement is due out Friday

I don't know what it will be but I doubt very much the chiprate will be 4.096Mcps..We might find out who the suppliers are on Fri but will when will we hear about the specs? If the chiprate is 4.096 QCOM has really caved in..

3G royalties are to be allotted according to the relative size/importance of essential patents. The implication from the call was that Q holds the Lions share, even on WCDMA. I presume also that the "patent agreement" is still subject to a standards agreement, which could still fall apart IMO. I'm sure we'll get more info on the Q conf call Tues. The problem with a lot of this is that I think I understand it one day but then comes the next day...Dave
