" ...that the QT4 feature set overlay Real Networks and given Real Networks value what was Apple considering to bring that value out in its own company... "

RealNetworks (RNWK) has one product, RealPlayer, a device for providing streaming video and audo over the Internet. RealNetwork's market cap is greater than Apple's.

Yet Apple has a product, Quicktime, that is about to be upgraded to version 4. Version 4 will have the capability to stream over the Internet. Quicktime is already cross-platform, and is the market leader in quality non-streaming video. It will probably be announced at the upcoming National Association of Broadcasters conference. Anyone who has used both RealPlayer and Quicktime will tell you that Quicktime is a much higher quality product.

The question was: what will Apple do to price the value of Quicktime into the company's value?

(When we compare Apple with boxmakers, we should remember that it is more than a boxmaker. Quicktime, MacOS 8.x and X client/server, Final Cut, AppleWorks, etc., differentiate Apple and add high-margin value to the company as a leading software maker).
