I dont know the math, but I'm thinking today is a tax sell-off of sorts. Maybe people
write checks out of their brokerage accounts to the IRS today and figure it'll take a few
days (settlement window) until the check arrives at the IRS?

KIS,

Most good brokerage firms do not require one to wait until settlement to remove cash. Particularly, if the account is a margin account. There is no margin interest on it either.

I am dubious that all the speculative crazies suddenly came to their senses today.

I don't think so either. Downward runs will tire themselves out just as upward runs do.

I'm watching out for the megatrends, such as tens of billions in IPOs, or trigger events, such as Pakistan nuking Bombay.
