To all:
A cut from April 13th Michigan Gaming publication.....

Windsor Tracks Race Ahead

Starting Wednesday, April 7th, purses at Windsor Raceway were increased by 25 percent. This increase, the result of increased track revenues from recently installed slot machines, is the third
increase in purses since October of 1998. It took effect at the start of Windsor Raceway's spring-summer meet, and will result in purses that are more than double those distributed for the comparable 1998 period.

This increase in Windsor purses could spell trouble for Michigan racetracks. Many horse racing industry leaders feel that the tracks in Michigan will not be able to lure owners, and their horses, to the tracks in the face of such stiff competition from Windsor.
