Actually it is not. Qualcomm said very explicitly that any harmonization between the 'modes' is now in the hands of the operators. Mika didn't claim that Qualcomm got nothing, just that they didn't get one of the things that they were originally after - the 3.68 chip rate etc.

Yes but I think Dr J believes he will end up with a lot of what Q was looking for, ie standards which are close enough so as not to be an enormous headache, that operators will force it. Mika also suggests the chiprate will remain 4.096Mcps, which is of course what ERICY is saying.. I think if you look at that list of licensees I posted you'll see that a good many of them are Japanese companies. NTT will be telling all these companies to shove it if they adopt an approach which is very difficult for these companies to adapt to and which gives European companies an advantage. Why should they do such a thing?

The royalty rates on the phone are based on consumer prices or the trade price?

I ask, because in certain countries the handset is given away.
