Thread,

Isn't the reaction from the news reports and resulting stock price fluctuation deja vu? I can understand Art's frustration, but a lot of you guys were here last year when the same scenario played out. Why are you guys surprised this time around?

Many here have contributed very relevant analysis. It's clear that SNDK is a winner long term. So why the concern short term?

I find the negative reporting by the media and subsequent reaction amusing. The only confusion here is when to pull the trigger to buy more shares. Last time around I waited until this thread went dead and price approached book value. We won't get that lucky again. We should be focusing on when we're at bottom to take advantage of others ignorance and our own research and insight.

When do we buy?

Roger

Thread,

I liked the fact that Eli predicts others will have difficulty gaining the expertise and mastering the technical tolerances necessary for producing MMC. He said that CF is roomy and easy to manufacture (just take apart a SNDK card and copy it, essentially). Once you have the chipsets and the controller you just need to "wrap it in plastic". He stated that MMC is more difficult, I suspect because the assembly process is more tightly integrated (rather than a patchwork quilt) and the form factor is so much smaller and more delicate.

PCMCIA type II = Greyhound Bus
CF = VW Bus
MMC = Mazda Miata

I think we have a big head start on the competition. Although MMC is an open standard (see my prior posts) SNDK may have the upper hand given they have been producing the card for several years already.
