John, Although some manipulation may be going on it is not done with the bid and ask. On Amex the bid is the highest limit buy order out there and the ask is the lowest limit sell order. Only when there are no limit orders can the specialist place the bid and ask price. With the volume today I doubt that happened. BTW: Like the new header? Asked Jill if she could change it and didn't expect she would do it without question.
