options strategies without selling puts?
Buy calls in the money, or leaps, especially on CMGI. This is a good time to do that, I would think.

Jeffry:

I can suggest two brokers: Brown & Co requires 50K liquid networth for selling naked puts. E-trade does not have a minimum but as long as you have the margin requirements at the time of selling the put: 40% of underlying stock pluse premium minus out of the money (very high requirement).

Please note that I would be doing you a disservice if I do not strongly remind you about the risk involved in selling naked puts or for that matter doing any option trading. If I recall correctly you bought calls Dell45/Apr and asked how you could remedy that. If you are new to this, please get the feel by doing paper trade first until you get comfortable, go to CBOE website and ask for booklets and video tapes about option (they are free), and read books about options. Do not use your hard earned money to jump in. I can see that everyone is a genius during the bull market and the stock goes up; all those profits posted seem an easy money. But the main thing is what do you do when the market turn south like this week for many of the high tech stock. How do you minimize the loss or even come out ahead. If time permits I will post about a real case for a case study where I sold a bunch of Apr160 puts and Apr150 and May160 puts on AOL, and what I did earlier this week to come out still slightly ahead. As you know AOL is at 140+ such that tomorrow more likely I would be assigned if I did not make that move. I am not saying that I am good at it, far from that. I am still learning as many on this or Dell threads. I learn a lot from Don Martini and edamo, two wonderful gentlemen who are so unselfish in sharing their knowledge for all of us to benefit.

Once again, please do not jump in option trading before you study the risk and do a lot of paper trading. Time is on your side. Better start doing this 6 months from now or even a year from now after you have done many paper tradings.

Good Luck to you.

Paul
