Aaron Todd, Chief Financial Officer, explained that the Company's Fiscal 1999 Growth Plan was producing results earlier than expected in all major operations, increasing confidence that the Company can achieve its goal of producing significant growth in profitability this year with earnings equal to or better than its best year. Mr. Todd commented, "The quarter was favorably impacted by strong flight volume within both Mercy Air's and the Flight Services Division's operations, especially during March. Flight volume strength was realized in both existing and new markets. The quarter also benefited from on budget performance from the Products Division and maintenance expenditures. In addition, Mercy Air collections were strong, reducing bad debt expense." Actual first quarter results are expected to be announced in early May. In the year ago first quarter the Company reported a profit of $0.11 per share, which included $0.08 per share from the gain on the disposition of a helicopter, net of related costs.
