Few correction to the article: "Although the U.S. is Ericsson's second-largest market after China, the vendor has failed to penetrate this market with its ATM equipment. It was BT not SwissCom " “Newbridge would make a decent acquisition for anyone looking to get into that space. They are especially strong in the ATM edge switch area,” she noted." Isn't NN wining almost all major contracts for core!!! ATM? " “Dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM), ATM and IP over ATM are going to be the issues that drive these competitive players,” Nolle said. “It's really their positions in those spaces and their strategies for the satisfaction of the voice requirements in this new-generation infrastructure that are going to decide the victories.” Now, who first(this gives us indication about rigth strategy)brougth to market DWDM and IP over ATM. Press releases from specific companes wil show it was Newbridge. Who has true multiservice platform? This company which can provide:FR,ASDL,circuit emulation,TDM,LMDS,IP and class 4 switch replacement on the same switch/manager platform. So far only NN can do. ASND for example needs more then one boxand can performent some of the above mentioned features at all. If ASND has the true multiservices core switch, why they are wining only in FR over ATM space. Good article, but in this industry, breaking-news is outdated by the time it hits the wires. There's a dearth of information on private companies operating in stealth mode; not to mention a chasm between what's promised and what's delivered. My advice is don't believe anything you hear and only half what you see. Look for nail prints. And on that score, TeleHub Networks is in operation now, and NN-TeleHub's JV, TeraBridge, has products already tested and shipping. Pat
