Re: I have Scotia and have no problems

Quick question for you and other Scotia Discount users... can you use a computer WITHOUT that Entrust software that Scotia makes you install?

One down-side (if you need to use the background encryption thing) is that for some people (like myself), I could find myself roaming from terminal to terminal frequently. And I can't go installing Entrust on each terminal I visit and use. I would think 128-bit browser encryption should be all that is necessary -- the need for additional third-party software just makes things clumsy and inconvenient. And I dare not try and imagine how it would work if it needs to traverse a firewall/proxy (at work).

I use InvestorLine, myself, and usually it's not too bad when it's up and running (it's been great all day today). There are excellent execution times (10 seconds), and there are bad times (1 hour). And rates are lower than most discount brokerages (except for Scotia, with $20 commissions online for $2000 principle or lower -- correct me if I'm wrong).

Hi Oliver,

I bet if all the rest of us start using Scotia, it will start going down too. The problem is the volume. Something the bonus loving sh*ts making the decisions at the banks failed to figure out when they were taking those tens of thousands of applications from us poor slobs signing up for their crappy services 6-12 months ago. They should have upgraded their systems as they were giving us our passwords.

Went into the bank today, and the bank manager I have known for years, broke down and started to cry in front of me. She has been putting in unpaid overtime for years and is owed many months of vacation pay she never took, just because she loved the customers and her job. Now the great bonus loving heads of the banks are shutting down her branch, to save money,...seems this branch didn't make enough money to pay its' share of the bonus.

Her options, take a buyout (no pension even though she has been there for over 20 years) or get demoted and work under managers who are incompetent and unknowledgeable about bank policies and procedures she knows very well. The crap has risen to the top in the banks folks. Crap floats!!! Happy swimming.
