To think I could have gotten out with a 300%+ profit. Hindsight!

That's the downside to the buy and hold philosophy. On the other hand, I know people who got out of DELL in 1993 with a several-hundred percent profit. If they'd held, they would be retired today. You win some of them and lose some, and as long as you have a winner every few years you do pretty well over the long haul. That's the attitude I adopted after reading one of Peter Lynch's books. You can't let the losers overwhelm you. Right now, I'm close to break-even, so the cost to me is largely lost opportunity.
