George, one of the enduring strengths of this thread is that we can put even the most unlikely items to irreverent good use. Take the cobra for one. To 99% of the normal, prudent people out there it is dangerous vermin best avoided. To us however - get a proper grip on the throat and tail, and it makes a dandy jumprope. And then the games go on!

The "Whatever" stung a bit. I invite a retraction.

You've probably missed it, being away, but a growing school of thought holds that Emile does not actually exist at all, that SI Admin conjured him up out of the ether (space there for a clever remark from LRR) for the sole purpose of creating one subject that everybody on SI can agree on.

Probably isn't true, but a pleasant notion all the same.
