Hi Scumbria, the market is a tad bit better in commercial :)

The more free (or low cost) retail PCs, the more servers needed and more commercial PC sales at higher margins. Also, more upgrade retail PCs.

And yes, I've considered a low-end PC, but decided it wasn't worth the productivity hit. :)

If I were you, I wouldn't invest commons in AMD (what would happen to your money if they were to go bankrupt - you'd lose a large base)... maybe it's less risk to buy some call options because your input would be lower for the same number of underlying stocks, so your exposure would be on a smaller base amount yet the upside potential higher. [i.e. at this point, investing commons in AMD is as risky as investing in options.] Then, take the difference and invest it in Intel - be safe, not sorry - and you'd still be playing in AMD as you like to do.
