jeez, yerself.

Admit I thought I'd provoke a serious response. Glad I got it. Money is really weird, isn't it?

I've been hunkered down with stacks of paper, trying to get a handle on my finances, which is something I'd really prefer not to do, but there are these deadlines, and I focus best with a deadline. So, now I know how much I made last year, and how much I spent, and how much I lost on my investments, and how much I owe, and how much I can put into a retirement account. You know I made a lot of money last year. This year I haven't made a dime. I admit, I haven't felt too motivated. Having a handle on things makes me feel less globally helpless, though, which is good. I feel pretty fortunate, actually. I am pretty fortunate. Maybe blessed.

I am not going to try to give you advice, you didn't ask for it. I don't know what it's like to be in your shoes. I can't imagine being in your shoes. What I do for a living, I can do in a wheelchair, I don't need a healthy body, and my body is pretty much ok, a little stiff here and there is all.

But you sound pretty fortunate to me. You have MJ, and Stumpy, and Fui, and the other cats, the stair sitters and the merrimac cats, and the rhododendrons, and the asparagus, and Dash, and your techie. Rubber pants. Blackberries and vines. And us.

Money can't buy friends, but you can get a better class of enemy.
Spike Milligan

Brigands demand your money or your life, women require both.
Samuel Butler (1835-1902)

There is a certain Buddhic calm that comes
from having money in the bank.
Tom Robbins

For money has a power above
The stars and fate, to manage love.
Samuel Butler (1835-1902)

Those who have some means think that the most important thing in the
world is love. The poor know that it is money.
Gerald Brenan

Money cannot buy
The fuel of love
but is excellent kindling.
Wystan Hugh Auden (1907-1973)

Money, it is often said, does not bring happiness; it must be added,
however, that it makes it possible to support unhappiness with
exemplary fortitude.
Robertson Davies (1913-1996)
