Burt,

Re: Intel model,

I am sure you are right.
Over 50% of Intels Celeron sales were 400Mhz and up which leads to average ASPs of $140 for 50% of such sales.

With a cost of $70 for a Celeron that translates to 50% margin.

It's only in the 300/333/366 speed grades that they are breakeven, but they limit these sales to manage overall margins while inflicting maximum damage to AMD.

And yes your ASP of 237 seems high. My guesstimate would have been in $210-220 range.

Regards,

KashJ.

Burt, where'd you get the volume per chip type, i.e., Celeron, Xeon, etc.? I thought that information wasn't released by Intel, as we were talking about today.

Burt,

According to the experts (Micro Design Resources) paid to know (or estimate) such things, Intel's ASP for this quarter was $227, down from $232 a year ago.

You might want to add this info to your calculations. I think it will point to even more profit on the Celeron.

Best Trading,
X
