But you sell short as if you were a daytrader, then take a "long-term" view while holding a short position.

Scott, you were half right about my strategy. I sell short when I see good payoff potential for my long term hold, not as a daytrader.

How is being long in LPGLY protected by WCAP???

If you're looking at only today, then no there's no protection. Over a longer time frame, I think it's pretty good balanced play. LPGLY gave back half of its gains yesterday while WCAP regained only a quarter of yesterday's losses.
