EEEEEEK--- I LAY LAY LAY down.
Agh! I guessed wrong- Ammo was rushing me out the door for his lifeguard class and I said is it lay or laid and we couldn't figure it out so we changed it three or four times and they both looked stupid so we gave up. Unfortunately we gave up on the wrong guess. SOmeone has kindly let me know by PM that I am going to be arrested by the grammar brigade. And of course there's not a damn thing I can do about it now except throw myself on your collective mercy.
Is that apology abject enough? Or do I need to conjugate lie, lay, lain 100 times in a post?

That tears it. Cut to the quick! Wimpy and old! Consigned to the scrap heap.

Given your description of the events, I think I would have had the same reaction: [The cats] last through the first chord and then go tearing out the open door, ears flattened, tails down, eyes terrified.

My dear Rambi, you have redeemed yourself: Then I went back to the house, took some aspirin and laid down.

TTFN,
