So it will be interesting to compare the actual k7 benchmarks to see if K7 has better/similar/or worse numbers than Willamette.

I believe that K7 will come close to maximum efficiency for an x86 CPU. The bottleneck for most apps is the speed of DRAM. Throwing more execution units at the application will not help.

I do not believe that Merced or Willamette will run Winstone significantly faster than K7, just as I don't expect K7 to run it much faster than PIII.
