ok, a very macroscopic, quasi-philosophical question for all ntap thread members...

i checked stock quotes this morning and saw ntap at 52. my gut reaction was "oh ****." but with hindsight, a much better reaction would have been an immediate reach to place a buy order at market.

i guess what made it worse was that i couldn't find any news (before someone posted the enlightening bit about emc downgrade) that could have caused the 20% drop, so i was operating in the blind...

anyway, was anyone here good enough thinking on their feet to have bought in the low 50s? if so, how do you do it? how do you know you are not catching a falling knife? have you ever been burned by this strategy -- and if so, when did you know to cut your losses?

discussion very welcome, whether specific to ntap or tech stocks in general.
