EXCERPT The kicker for Inktomi is its opportunity in the shopping side," said Alan Loewenstein, co-portfolio manager for the John Hancock Global Technology Fund. "I'm sure they'll have competitors but I don't think (the competitors) will have the breadth or scalability that Inktomi has." On a conference call after the earnings release, Inktomi executives said the company would unveil a fourth application soon. While not giving out much information, executives hinted that "it will be in the portal services side of the business and tightly integrated" with the company's current businesses.
