Stock Bull: The pattern is that about 1 - 2 weeks before earnings announcement, Dell has a runup, and then back to the previous level after the announcement. Note: this has been happening before Niles and Kumar era (gosh if I want Indian guys as analysts, I definitely chose Mohan and Apratim!). So, if one has Dell in tax deferred account, it could be profitable to sell before earnings announcement and buy it back afterwards. This move is not that appealing in regular account for tax reasons, unless one is short term trader.

I was going to write that another profitable strategy is to write May40 put on Dell (which probably will be out of the money tomorrow) and close it in 3 1/2 weeks. But cancel this thought. The premium is not that appealing.

Regards

Paul
