What do you call competitively priced? The SPARC 20's were 20K and would just about break even with a 90 MHZ Pentium running Linux. thass truth Br'er. Now their latest incarnation may break the sound barrier but waddabout price, really. Aren't we talking over 10K US to be a member?

Maybe at one time, that was the case. Nowadays, a PCI Ultra IIi (Ultra 10) can be had for ~$3,000. I've seen real world comparisons between the Ultras and PIIs. I'm looking forward to getting a low end Ultra in place of a Pentium as my next 'PC'.

Sun tunes their systems differently. They don't emphasize clock speeds. In place of clock speed, they have better throughput.
