Hello Joe,

Yep ... and I even think that point to point communications will improve to use even better protocols (between same-vendor gear) directly over lambda. And then once we break loose of this silly "packet" orientation and realize that "object routing" is the future we will have even bigger gains!

I followed both Fibre Channel and SSA (Serial Storage Architecture) for a while and was much more impressed with SSA. IBM has been shipping it for quite sometime now ...

The thing that I'm not sure about Fibre Channel is who are the players to follow, and when will it become widely adopted? It seems that the big money is made when the end-user/consumer play occurs ... and the average-Joe buys in ... not just corporations.

It seems that USB and FireWire are picking up ... I know that Fibre Channel is being used ... but not in the home. For video, it seems that 1394 (Firewire) has a bigger following ...

I'm not sure where the money is in Fibre Channel yet ...
