TriQuint Semiconductor, Inc. Announces First Quarter Results

April 19, 1999 04:12 PM
HILLSBORO, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 19, 1999--TriQuint Semiconductor, Inc. TQNT today reported its financial results for the First Quarter 1999 ending March 31, 1999.

Revenues for the First Quarter 1999 were a record $33.7 million, resulting in a 42% increase over the $23.7 million in the comparable period of 1998. Net income for the First Quarter 1999 was $3.2 million ($0.32 per share on 10.1 million weighted average shares outstanding), compared to a loss of $12.3 million ($1.33 per share on 9.3 million weighted average shares outstanding), reported for the First Quarter 1998. The loss in the First Quarter of last year was primarily due to special charges related to the acquisition of the Millimeter Wave business from Raytheon TI Systems.

In commenting on the results, Steven J. Sharp, TriQuint's Chairman, President and CEO stated that, "I am pleased to report that in the First Quarter, we again achieved record bookings, revenues and operating income due to continued strength in our focus markets. Manufacturing operations set new records for fab productivity and unit shipments while continuing to improve yields. We scored a record 95 major design wins. We define major design wins as those which we believe will generate at least $100,000 per year in revenues if and when they reach production."
