awesome result isn't it. Only 81cents loss
vs 44 last year. Awesome company, awesome "cherry"
CEO. They are able to please the street
while Intc disappoint them.

SUNNYVALE, Calif. (CBS.MW) -- After
posting three warnings to Wall Street,
Advanced Micro Devices said Thursday its
operations lost $128.4 million in the first
quarter, a somewhat brighter picture than
feared by analysts who follow the chipmaker.
Shares rose.

The loss, excluding restructuring and other
special charges, equated to 81 cents a share.
The median estimate from analysts surveyed
by First Call Corp. projected the Sunnyvale,
Calif.-based company (AMD: news, msgs)
would lose 92 cents. In the year-ago quarter,
the company lost $62.7 million, or 44 cents.
