You just reminded me of a series of nightmares I used to have about the warehouses. Haven't had them in a while. I used to dream that there were undead buried in them. Very spooky places late in the day. Never went inside one of them at night, but could see them from outside, of course. As you say, they are vast, and even with very bright lights the shadows are deep.

I don't hate rap music, although I don't like most of it. The stuff about killing cops, and calling women "bitches" and "hoes" I don't like, but some of it is very compelling political commentary. Sometimes I turn on MTV, forlornly looking for something to replace "120 Minutes," which I loved. They have rap videos on, a lot, and I may look for a few minutes before I turn it off. Similarly, I actually stuff like "Achy-Breaky Heart" OK if I hear it on the radio, but I would never buy it, nor go to a concert by the artist. There are some country singers I like OK, can't remember names, the guy who does "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain."

After listening to much to Garrison Keillor's show, which has a lot of schlock and kitch on it, I think I could even tolerate Lawrence Welk and polka music.

But that's not what I buy. Right now on my CD player in my car is U2, the original Fleetwood Mac, with Peter Green, and Jimi Hendrix.

And what I actually listen to in the car is alternative radio, I like Beck, Smashing Pumpkins, Butthole Surfers, whathisname with the song about "Then You Might Know What It's Like to Have the Blues," stuff like that. New stuff. I've learned that it's foolish to buy the albums, usually there is only the one cut on it that I like, so I just listen to the radio a lot.

I got out of the habit of listening to the stereo at home, my kids hate rock, and my mother was around all the time, I used to listen to Laurie Anderson, Brian Eno.
