Compaq To Build DirecPC Into Computers

As part of its high-speed, web-linked PC strategy announced last November, Compaq Computer signed a deal to incorporate Hughes Network Systems' DirecPC system into its new computers

Starting in May, Compaq will offer satellite-linked Presario PCs bundled with a DirecPC USB package, including an antenna and satellite modem.

This package, which will allow users to surf the Web at up to 400 kilobits per second, will start at $1,899.
