Does anyone use a direct service to the market makers>?
I want to get faster executions and bypass the online brokers.
I have heard there are about 4 or so services that can do this.
I current use Fidelity Spartan accounts and can get reasonable
executions most of the time and if in a panic can call directly to
the trading desk but cost more. I like the fact that my money is safe at Fidelity but have a concern at smaller services.
Any comments are welcomed.
Good trading.

ot

Ameritrade. I sold msft mrkt order yesterday at 10:05 and the screen confirmed at 11:15 order canceled. At 12:15 I got the broker on the phone who told me msft sold within the minute I put the order in.

Around 5:30pm I got the computer calling confirming sale. Throughout the day the sale showed cancel I called it back up and now shows going through... This is the first time I had a computer problem although I now have an ongoing problem with them on releasing $$ from ira at the right time. thinking of moving account after fours years. John

I have been using DLJdirect for several years now. Sometimes make 5-6 trades per day. Have never had a problem. 99% of the time I go from the screen placing an order directly to the order status screen and find that the trade has been executed. The other 1% of the time the trade is made within one or two min.

Don't know if I have just been lucky--but can't believe the horror stories about other services.
