You wanted an opinion, so I'll give one. I have 2 Viewsonics myself, and recommend them to the majority of my clients if they can afford the extra cost. They're extremely crisp, very reliable and have excellent RMA service if needed.

For a short-depth monitor, I love the PS790 (19", .25 dp)
For the flat-screen, I'd go with the VG180 (19") It's a wee bit on the pricey side, but if you can afford the cost I can practically guarantee that you'll be satisfied with the result.

The 15" and 17" flat-screens are also fantastic.
