Bill:

I believe BEL's pricing is $10 over SBC's present pricing structure.

Thank you for educating me on the design of HFC networks. Could you explain the notion of quadrant division within a node? How expensive is it for a cableco to install an additional node when QoS diminishes on a heavily-trafficked node? Are you saying that the a cable subscriber can expect to share "his" pipe with no more than 125 other subscribers?

Thanks for providing additional info on DSLAMs. How is data traffic coming into the DSLAM managed? What bandwidth limitations do you believe are present? What do you mean by "level of over-subscription?

Granted, regardless of the private nature of DSL, at some point it is going to have to interface with network traffic. I think what's important here is to understand where the bottlenecks are along each path, copper & HFC, & assess how each may be improved to handle peak period traffic.
