HI Coug; Thanx when it comes to the truth I doubt even if it was completely available any of us could know all of it. I do think in America we are exposed to more of it ( after the fact ) than any where else in the world. But I've learned not to rush to judgment looking at the current news as that can be twisted really bad, the truth of it comes to the surface later, still with that in mind I think we are the most informed people in the world, ( at least after the fact ). And as much as I detest the war drum beating of the press rushing to get viewers in the long haul they do tell us that Truth is the first victim in war. -------------------------- Ike warned us about the military industrial complex, but he did nothing about it. If War related stocks were frozen at any time we started dropping bombs , and what every their previous quarters profit was Freeze the profit levels right there, until the war ended. Years ago Will Rogers said we have to take the profiteers out of war if we ever hope to end it. But no one has ever touched taht. Sure we need the defense stocks but we also need a way and some damm rules and over sights as to how these companies operate. I don't know how we should handle it , but it's still a part of the problem , & but one we were warned about several times and have never done anything about it. ---------------------------- War can also take a lot of heat off the politicians and look at the way the News media obsesses about it , domestic issues get shoved under the table and into back room deals during a war. --------------- The hard liners in the right wing beat the drums with their Star Wars program, and want to claim credit for that bringing Russia to the table, ( bullshit ) money did it. I saw Star Wars as a joke, as push come to shove they don't need rockets to deliver the newer nuclear weapons, or the biological ones, our borders are not secure by any stretch of the imagination, and IF what I read back in the late 70s, has any merit China told us unofficially that if we ever Nuked them we would die in ways we never even thought of. ---------------- The world is changing fast and I have no idea of what the next generation might have to live with , but there will be surprises. When the age of the cold war ended ( now it looks like it's back or trying to come back ) any way I said we would have years of Terrorist and the new age would be the "Age of the terrorist" and I don't think we have done very much in the way of facing that reality. It seems to me the old hard liners are still playing footsy with the terrorist , and some how think they can keep them in their pocket. The old attitude of so what if he's an SOB, at least he is our SOB, is still a policy with us. Jim
