SPEEDUS.COM Announces License with Netscape to Integrate Customized Version of Netscape Communicator 4.5 Browser with SPEED(SM) Internet Service NEW YORK, April 16 /PRNewswire/ -- SPEEDUS.COM (Nasdaq: SPDE) today announced that it has signed a licensing agreement with Netscape Communications. This licensing agreement provides SPEEDUS.COM with the rights to integrate a customized version of the Netscape Communicator 4.5 browser with its high SPEED Internet service. SPEEDUS.COM's customized version of Netscape Communicator 4.5 provides its customers with standards-based solutions for accessing information over the Internet. SPEEDUS.COM chose Netscape Communicator 4.5 because it is a full-featured browser that includes support for Dynamic HTML, and, in particular, the full scope of Java technologies including planned support of the Java Foundation Classes. SPEEDUS.COM's version of Netscape Communicator 4.5 includes short cuts to the Company's web page and customized pull down menus. SPEEDUS.COM customers have the ability to read help files, review modem settings and download the latest drivers and software through a customized pull up menu that is available in the customized version of Netscape Communicator. SPEEDUS.COM is integrating the customized version of Communicator with its SPEED modem drivers and associated software. SPEEDUS.COM's customized version is available to its customers through the SPEEDUS.COM website. SPEEDUS.COM has initiated a SPEED Internet service pilot program and is connecting its first Internet subscribers. SPEEDUS.COM's customers are able to browse the World Wide Web utilizing a SPEED modem capable of downstream speed up to 48Mbps. The SPEED service requires the purchase and installation of the SPEED modem. The SPEED modems are currently only available from the Company for $350. The Company plans to arrange financing for the cost of the SPEED modem to consumers and to increase its signal coverage area before commencing a major marketing campaign.
